Caring for Others ✝ Achieving Excellence
In our school we always think of how we can serve and help others. Older pupils are playground leaders and buddies for younger pupils and our School council meet every week to support school leadership and improvement.
The School Council decide on a range of charities to support over the course of the year and plan events for the whole school. Some of the charities we have supported have included:
In the summer term each year, children across the school research a charity of their choice and give a presentation to the class. Following this each class decides on a charity to raise money for over the term.
In addition to supporting charities, our school choir has sung at The Homestead, a care home in Carterton supporting individuals with nursing, residential and dementia care needs.
As part of our annual remembrance focus, all of the children visited the Carterton Repatriation Garden to pay their respects and place wreaths, poems and prayers. The School Council represented St John's at the memorial service on 11th November with the town Mayor and Reverend Blakey.
